- I'm a retired teacher who was diagnosed with ALS during the summer of 2007. However, symptoms were evident from 2004. Presently, I'm in a wheel chair 24/7 and am slowly losing my speech. Although the disease has become more and more frustrating I've been able to keep my spirits up and enjoy almost every day. I love my apartment with it's gorgeous views and close proximity to shops. It was a smart move from my house on Burnaby Mountain. Care workers, family, and friends have been terrific at helping me traverse down this winding ALS road filled with challenges.
I do exercise--honest
I rarely make phone calls any more because of my ALS accent and voice fatigue.
Have confidence-- will travel.
This is my house and don't bother me.

Hi Karyn, I am out of town and mostly without a computer. I am at the public library now checking my mail. My daughter had a speech and debate conference that we attended and now we are actually spending sometime on the beach at Cocoa Beach, Florida. Sunny and in the 80's. I know it's cold where you are so I thought I'd share that tidbit about the beach, and the swimming pool :). Sorry :).
Sorry to hear about your fall. I am glad you weren't hurt, hopefully it won't happen again. Take care of yourself :). You probably won't hear from me again until Thursday, that's when I should be home and online again :).
